About Stacy Grant
July 5, 1987 – April 11, 2025
Stacy Grant, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend, passed away in Charlotte, North Carolina on April 11, 2025 at the age of 37 as she underwent treatment for recently diagnosed cancer.
Stacy lived her life with passion, ambition, joy and purpose – qualities that shone through early in her childhood in Southern California. Her journey into adulthood started in earnest when she chose to attend college across the country at New York University, where she excelled as a student athlete and forged deep friendships and a clear path to her eventual career in law.
It was at New York University where she met her soulmate and partner for life, Sean, with whom she shared a passion for sports, talking politics, planning fearlessly for the future, and building a community that stretched across the country. They married in 2012 while they were both pursuing graduate degrees in Washington DC. After graduating at the top of her class at Georgetown Law School, Stacy had her choice of law firms to join and ultimately accepted an offer from Cravath, Swaine and Moore. While some would have been impressed and drawn in by the reputation of Cravath or the doors that joining the firm would open, Stacy chose Cravath because she believed it to be where she would get the best training and be around the best mentors. It was this deep commitment to learning and a brilliant mind capable of applying that knowledge and experience that propelled her to being one of the youngest women to ever lead the legal department at a Fortune 500 company.
For all her professional success, Stacy was most extraordinary as a daughter, sibling, wife, friend and mother. In all these relationships and without having ever been asked, she was fiercely protective, endlessly loving, and unshakably dedicated.
This dedication showed itself when she received a diagnosis that would have paralyzed most people. For Stacy, there was no standing still. She searched the country for the best course of treatment, she reassured her family and friends, and confronted her cancer head-on. On her last day with us, Stacy remained steady, focused on winning this battle, and planning — as she always did — for what she hoped and expected would come after.
